I was waiting outside the restaurant for my pickup, and the staff gave me only two bags for one customer, even though there were two separate orders assigned to me. Because of their mistake, I couldn’t deliver the second order. … More

We had a great meal at their first night of business tonight ! Highly recommend - great, tasty fresh food with generous portions. Recommend the pork katsu, umeshu, agedashi tofu and sushi rolls (there were 8 per serve). Can't wait to go back 🍣

Nice little Cafe. Matcha Souffle pancake with some of the redbean sauce was perfect amount of sweetness. Carbonara flavour was unique and tastes amazing. Paired with one of the best coffee I've ever had when dining in.

Kind, attentive staff and the most delicious food - we will definitely be back! The Agedashi tofu, eggplant, tiger prawn rolls and the katsu curry were a definite highlight! The food and hospitality were incredibly reminiscent of dining in Japan - what a neighborhood gem! More

From the moment the dishes arrived, I knew I was in for something special. The katsu curry was perfection — golden, crispy chicken cutlet laid over fluffy white rice and generously smothered in a rich, velvety curry sauce. The texture … More

We are recently at Doki Doki and found the service and quality of the food excellent. The pork katsu is divine and the eggplant entree was also particularly good. Friendly staff, beer and sake available. If I lived closer, this would be a local for me.

Fresh, beautifully presented chirashi don with generous cuts of salmon, tuna and kingfish over perfectly seasoned rice. The miso soup and small salad made it a light but satisfying meal. Great little spot for a quick, high-quality Japanese lunch in Sydney.

Their futomaki is incredibly fresh! A roll with 5 components ☺️ The tempura prawn + sashimi was sooo satisfying
Such a nice interior too 💚
I also really liked their miso eggplant, which looked like a Jenga tower :) So crispy and not too oily

Wonderful, family run establishment. A much needed jewel on Balmain Rd.
Great for a Friday night meal with kids or just a sushi takeaway (which my daughter loves). Their eggplant dish is excellent.

This place might be new, but the food is already outstanding!
First off, the Chicken Katsu Curry is a must-try. The crispy chicken katsu paired with the mildly spicy curry and warm rice is absolutely comforting—it made the rest of my day so much better. It was my first time trying it, but I ended up cleaning the plate! Make sure to dip the katsu in the curry or let it soak a little—trust me, it takes the flavor to the next level.
The Chicken Karaage was also very impressive. The pieces are large, thick, and juicy, and the chicken flavor really stands out compared to other places. The crispy coating has just the right amount of salt, and the mayo dipping sauce, topped with a hint of shichimi, cuts through the richness perfectly.
The Crispy Eggplant is one of their popular dishes, and it’s easy to see why. The soft, chewy eggplant wrapped in a crunchy coating offers a great texture, and the sticky, sweet apple miso adds a delicious twist that keeps the dish from feeling too heavy.
As for the Agedashi Tofu—it’s wonderfully crispy when it first arrives, but becomes even more flavorful as it soaks up the hot soy sauce. The chef recommended pouring the sauce generously over the tofu, and I’m glad I listened! The light, silky tofu balances the savory sauce beautifully. Even if you're not usually a tofu fan, I think you'll enjoy this dish.
The staff were also incredibly friendly, always greeting guests with a warm smile. The space isn’t huge, but it’s cozy with a cute, minimal design that makes it feel very welcoming.
This is the first time I’ve written such a long review, but I truly loved this place and wanted to share the experience in detail for anyone thinking of visiting. I hope my review helps others discover this gem, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

First visit even though it has been opened for almost 8 months. We had a great meal. Excellent customer service and quality of food. Such great flavours and generous portions. We had a meal earlier in the week at Balmain Sushiman, but Rozelle Doki was far superior food and service !. We will definitely be going back again.

Newly opened, this place is amazing. Great food, nice atmosphere, and very reasonably priced.
We had the mid soup, salmon carpaccio, agadashi tofu, and crispy eggplant.
Each dish was sizeable, very tasty and with a great depth of flavour.
Was BYO but they have a small selection of beer and other drinks.
Was $77 for two of us and we left very full - where else can you have a meal like this in Sydney?! Will be back! ⭐️

A great addition to the block! Beautiful looking sushi made in house, as well as udon, donburi, katsu curry and more. Take away tofu donburi was full of plump, fried-yet-saucy tofu, rice and pickles. It also came with miso soup and a side salad. Friendly staff too. Can't wait to dine in!
